People with limiting LTCs are the most intensive users of the most expensive services

People with limiting LTCs are the most intensive users of the most expensive services

In the UK, people with a Long Term Condition (LTC) account for:
            • 52% of all GP appointments
            • 65% of all out-patient appointments
            • 72% of all inpatient bed days
The DoH estimates that the treatment and care of those with LTCs account for 69% of the total health and social care spend in England, or almost £7 in every £10 spent

By 2022 total long term care expenditure is forecast to rise by 103% to 26.4 billion.
This is equivalent to a rise from 1.4% to 1.8% of GDP
