Czech Healthcare Reforms Series 1 - Co-Payment

Czech Healthcare Reform Series 1 - Co-Payment

Co-payment for healthcare costs increase from Kc 60 to Kc 100 per day in all establishments.  This is a contribution towards accommodation and food which it is figured you would pay anyway if not in hospital.  First & last days you are in care are now paid as one day.  Costs need to be paid within 30 days or if the hospitalisation period is more than 30 days paid by end of the current month.

This hospitalisation co-payment is not included in the protective limit which is set at Kc 2500 per year (under 18 and pensioners) and Kc 5000 for everyone else.

Protective limit includes all other healthcare costs but not add-ons, which is under discussion and may be included at some later date.

People hospitalised because of being an organ or bone marrow donor , those on benefits and on quarantine because of a legal requirement, are exempt from co-payments.
